Altamont After School Care
The Altamont After School Care program is in its 13th year of operation at Immanuel Lutheran Church for students attending Altamont Grade School {A.G.S.} and Altamont Lutheran Interparish School {A.L.I.S.} who are in kindergarten through 6th grade on all regular school days and some selected early dismissal days.
The program has been available at no required costs to participating families so as to not exclude families who cannot afford to participate.
The program has had paid staff workers and additional volunteer workers to assist with song and snack time, homework assistance if needed, art/craft projects, playtime and general supervision.
Fund raising and financial support has been needed to keep the program operating each school year. The program has relied on financial support from various grants, local businesses, memorials and donations from individuals and families.
The Immanuel After School Care {ASC} program qualifies as an organization allowing a tax deductable contribution.
United Way of Effingham County has accepted the ASC program again for the 2020-21 school year.
Sadly, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the After School Care program has not been allowed to operate the first semester of the 2020-21 school year.
The program intends to resume operation as soon as possible. Seventy-eight children are already on the waiting list and the staff are ready to have the children back!
